Our Regrouting Services
Regrout Plus focuses on restoring tiled wet areas that look worn, leak, hold moisture or keep growing mould. We work on residential properties across Geelong and help improve both the look and function of tiled spaces where suitable.
What Causes Efflorescence on Tiles and Grout
Efflorescence is caused by moisture moving through a tiled surface and carrying natural salts with it. When the water evaporates, it leaves these salts behind as a white or powdery residue.
This is most commonly seen in areas exposed to ongoing moisture, such as balconies, bathrooms or other wet zones. It can appear on grout lines, tile surfaces or joints, and often returns if the underlying cause is not addressed.
While it may look like a surface stain, efflorescence usually points to moisture moving beneath or through the tiled area.
Cleaning the Surface and Addressing the Cause
Efflorescence removal involves cleaning the affected areas to remove visible salt deposits and improve the appearance of the surface. However, it is equally important to consider why the moisture is present in the first place.
This service is suitable for tiled areas showing white deposits, patchy staining or signs of moisture movement. It is often combined with other work such as regrouting, sealing or repairs where needed.
If the efflorescence is linked to a larger issue, such as water ingress or failing grout, we will explain that clearly so you understand what steps may be required to prevent it from returning.
